July 4, 2015–Gridiron Leaders Foundation held its first football, physical education and cultural exchange program in Chongqing, China. The camp brought together american football players from across China to participate in the first-ever three-day football camp and educational experience.
In collaboration with GLF, former NFL running back Mike Hart, former NFL Europe defensive lineman Ken Xu, and North Central Illinois O-Lineman Coach Brad Wilson led football training sessions for a variety of age groups. Campers from China and coaches from the United State performed three sessions of training each day that incorporated activities related to the core aspects of GLF: cultural understanding, leadership development, US-China relations, and education.
Campers had the opportunity to develop offensive and defensive football skills along with the positive mental approach to the game and life. The program allowed local Chinese and American coaches to work together to develop a more exciting, safe and fun environment for the game, and campers left having gained more perspective on how the sport they love can help them realize their personal and professional goals in life.
